In a recent interview, Hillary Clinton blasted Don Jr’s latest explanation to why he agreed to meet with a Russian operative on the campaign trail and not report the conversation.

It’s ridiculous. It’s another absurd lie to cover up what really was going on […],

Clinton told NBC News Wednesday.

She added that she hopes the feds would uncover what really happened during the presidential campaign and help the American people understand Trump associates’ actions.

Last summer, Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr, agreed to meet with a Kremlin-linked attorney after the Kremlin promised to offer him compromising information on his dad’s political rival.

An e-mail exchange released by Don Jr. shows that one Russian official assured the him that his dad had Russia’s support during the presidential campaign. Don Jr. originally said that he discussed U.S. adoptions of Russian children during the meeting and the compromising material was just an excuse to get his attention.

Don Jr’s Latest Explanation

Later, Don Jr. released the e-mail exchange between him and the person who brokered the rendezvous. In one of the e-mails, Don Jr said he would “love” to get something incriminatory on Clinton. The president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and former campaign chair Paul Manafort also agreed to the encounter.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller and two congressional committees are conducting separate probes into the meeting. Trump Jr. recently told lawmakers that he obtained no usable info from the Russian attorney but added that he would have asked for an attorney’s advice before using the damaging info.

To the extent they had information concerning the fitness, character or qualifications of a presidential candidate, I believed that I should at least hear them out,

Don Jr. told a Senate panel.

Clinton, on the other hand, is “convinced” that the Trump campaign somehow colluded with Russia.
