On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton took part in diversity conference in San Francisco. This marked the first time she talked about politics on a larger scale since losing the 2016 presidential election to Donald Trump. Clinton began her speech by saying that “there is no place I would rather be.” This event was the annual conference hosted by the Professional BusinessWomen of California. Because of this, Clinton chose to talk about women on topics of their equality and attacked the president, the Republican party, and their ideas.
Hillary Clinton talks
Hillary Clinton has not had many appearances since losing the election. She participated in a few public gatherings and posted some Twitter messages, but apart from those, she kept quiet. She did attend Donald Trump’s inauguration event along with her husband, former President Bill Clinton. However, during Tuesday’s event, Hillary Clinton deemed Donald Trump’s effort to repeal and replace ObamaCare a “disastrous bill.” She warned that all those protests against the president’s policies and decisions are just now getting started and they will not stop soon. Hillary also talked about the subject of diversity at the workplace and the private sector’s efforts to bring more women forward, in critical positions. She called the advancement of women’s rights the “biggest unfinished business of the 21st century”.
During her address, the former Secretary of State talked about two incidents involving two black women, which also happened on Tuesday. The first one included White House press secretary Sean Spicer, who told reporter April Ryan, a very respected journalist, to shop shaking her head. Moreover, he repeated this statement three times and interrupted her questions numerous times during the briefing. The second incident involved Fox News host Bill O’Reilly. He reportedly made fun of Rep. Maxine Waters’ hair. He said about it that it looked like a “James Brown wig.” He apologized after a huge number of people began criticizing him. However, according to Hillary Clinton, Waters became a subject of jokes after the host’s comment.
All in all, Hillary Clinton, even if she is still visibly hurt inside, kept everything on a positive note. Even Donald Trump’s victory which was maybe her biggest political disappointment. She also said that there is a lot of opportunity for this new beginning. Clinton told the people in the audience to resist in front of everything that is attacking the American values and principles. Most importantly, she told people to be united and together; they will be invincible in front of everything that will happen from now on.
