On Wednesday we learned after his surgery that Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has been diagnosed with brain cancer.

John McCain’s Shocking Discovery

The tumor was discovered after McCain underwent a minor surgery for a blot clot above his left eye. The Mayo Clinic in Phoenix issued a statement about the discovery,

“Subsequent tissue pathology revealed that a primary brain tumor known as a glioblastoma was associated with the blood clot, the Senator and his family are reviewing further treatment options with his Mayo Clinic care team. Treatment options may include a combination of chemotherapy and radiation.”

The hospital said.

This isn’t McCain’s first battle with cancer. In 2000, he underwent surgery to remove a skin cancer called melanoma from the left side of his face and his left arm. In 2002, he had a melanoma removed from his nose. All were determined the least dangerous types. McCain’s office released a statement that he was in good spirits on Wednesday and is confident any treatments will be effective. his office also stated that further consultations with the doctors will determine his return to his seat in the Senate.

Politicians Reactions

A close friend of McCain’s, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), spoke with him on Wednesday. “Literally, it went five minutes until we turned away from what I think most people have a hard time absorbing and focused on what he loves the best.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell released a statement saying “He will face this challenge with the same extraordinary courage that has characterized his life.”

President Barack Obama tweeted out his condolences to McCain, his former opponent in 2008, saying,

Trump also tweeted out his condolences but was obviously less classy than our former president,

He has to make it all about himself the narcissist and doesn’t know how to properly send condolences or even feel remorse.

Hillary Clinton also tweeted out her condolences in a beautiful statement,

Democrats and Republicans have come together to help a man in his time of need, and that’s the way it should be. Even though you’re a Republican McCain, we’re here for you. Get well soon.
