One influential donor has pulled funding from congressional Republicans. Doug Deason states the “Dallas piggy bank” is closed until they repeal Obamacare and pass tax reform.”
Good News or Bad News?
When we think of congressmen getting no funding we’d like to jump for joy. But the reasons Deason is giving isn’t exactly for the better. Deason says:
Get Obamacare repealed and replaced, get tax reform passed. You control the Senate. You control the House. You have the presidency. There’s no reason you can’t get this done. Get it done and we’ll open it back up.
First off NO, we don’t want Obamacare repealed and replaced because it’s saved millions of Americans lives, and second, why do you want tax reform so badly? So you can continue to not pay them and live in that 1%? Figures.
Deason has already refused to host fundraisers for two members of Congress, Reps. Mark Meadows (N.C.) and Jim Jordan (OH), and told House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) his checkbook is closed. Deason has also encouraged about to dozen other donors to pull funding until action is taken.
Tension at the Koch Retreat
The Koch network held their yearly retreat at the base of the Rocky Mountains and that was the only thing on their minds. One official warned the Republican House majority would be in jeopardy if Congress doesn’t follow through on their promises.A Koch donor, Chris Wright of Colorado, says Republicans have 10 months before any major policy action is suffocated by the 2018 elections. “If we don’t get anything done by then, the elections probably don’t go very well,” Wright said. “The may not go well anyway.” Let’s see if the recently closed piggy bank bodes well for the intelligent Americans against Trumpcare or if it hurts us even more.
