With investigators trying to turn over every stone related to Russia’s meddling in the 2016 presidential election, Reince Priebus and Don McGahn are lawyering up.
Priebus, former chief of staff of Trump’s administration, and McGahn, White House counsel, both hired William Burck. Burck is a Quinn Emanuel Urguhart & Sullivan LLP partner, according to Law360.
Both Priebus and McGahn sought Burck’s counsel after Robert Mueller announced to the White House that his team planned to interview six aides in an effort to better understand Russia’s involvement in the election, and possibly in Trump’s campaign.
Among the six are Sean Spicer, former White House press secretary, Hope Hicks, interim communications director, Priebus, and McGahn.
Mueller’s team plans to question McGahn about Trump’s decision to fire former FBI director James Comey earlier this year. As for Priebus, he will be interviewed about details surrounding the June 2016 meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer.
