Vladimir Putin Heaps Praise On Trump For His Performance As President

While the vast majority of Americans aren’t pleased with the job performance of President Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin says he’s delighted with Trump and the personal relationship he’s developed with the American head of state.

Speaking to Russian state TV, Putin hailed Trump as a great communicator and added:

“I have no disappointment at all. Moreover, on a personal level he made a very good impression on me.”

Putin also noted that Trump is eager to compromise:

“It’s possible to negotiate with him, to search for compromises.”

When the discussion turned to the American political system — which Putin and the Kremlin have tried to undermine — the Russian leader was much less positive in his remarks:

“[The U.S. political system] has demonstrated its inefficiency and has been eating itself up. It’s quite difficult to interact with such a system, because it’s unpredictable.”

As for sanctions imposed by the United States and European Union in response to the Russian annexation of Crimea, Putin sounded defiant:

“We will win in the long run.

“Those who serve us with poison will eventually swallow it and poison themselves.”

Putin’s remarks come on the same day that the new Russian ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, told Politico that most members of Congress are afraid to meet with him or his fellow Russian diplomats:

“The Congress, overwhelmed by Russophobia, is led by politically biased emotions, rather than a clear-thinking mind. We are bluntly told they fear criticism.

“All I hear is ‘meddling, interference.’ I don’t know these words. I want to talk about friendship, cooperation.”

If indeed Ambassador Antonov and the Russians want to discuss friendship and cooperation, perhaps they should first apologize for their actions in 2016 and their continued efforts to interfere in the American democratic process. And while they’re at it, they can also hand over whatever compromising information they have on Trump to Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

We won’t hold our breath waiting for that or anything else positive from a nation that longs to destroy the United States.
