Covert racists all across the United States do not like Colin Kaepernick. Despite the fact that Kaepernick has done incredible work in raising America’s consciousness about racism and police brutality, he still does not have a position in the league.

Being shut out of the sport he loves has not stopped Kaepernick from standing up for what he believes in and pursuing justice for people of color everywhere. That’s why Beyoncé surprised the quarterback with Sports Illustrated’s Muhammad Ali Legacy award.

The magazine recognized Kaepernick for putting his career on the line after refusing to stop taking a knee during the national anthem. The backlash against Kaepernick’s peaceful protest was fierce and made viewers around the world aware just how deeply influenced we are by white supremacy.

“Colin took action with no fear of consequence or repercussion, only hope to change the world for the better. To change the way we treat each other – especially people of color. We’re still waiting for the world to catch up. It’s been said that racism is so American that when we protest racism, some assume we’re protesting America.”

Kaepernick’s call to action showed us a direct link between the commonly wielded argument that refusing to stand during the anthem amounts to “disrespecting the flag and the military” and the presence of both personal, systemic racism in our daily lives.

And to nobody’s surprise…the racists crawled right out of the woodwork to bash Kaepernick’s great work the moment he received his well-deserved award.

Tomi Lahren, a young, conservative, bigoted talking head claimed that Beyonce was “police-hating” and “America-hating.” She said, “This is how far we’ve fallen.” And if Lahren is referring to the fall of white supremacy, she is correct.

Some called for the boycott of entire cities.

One woman suggested that Beyonce and Kaepernick don’t deserve help in the event of an emergency.

Well, we can assume that the presence of these trolls is just another sign that Kaepernick is succeeding in changing the world. Otherwise, racists would have nothing to complain about.
