Republicans are trying everything they can think of to worm their way around the Russian investigation. Along with the recent news of the House Judiciary Committee wanting a second special counsel, now one of them wants Mueller’s resignation.
Franks Says ‘Conflict of Interest’
Rep. Trent Franks of Arizona is calling for special counsel Robert Mueller’s resignation. Why? He claims that Mueller is violating the law. There is a law that says a special counsel is prohibited from serving if there is a “conflict of interest,” meaning “a personal relationship with any person substantially involved in the conduct that is the subject of the investigation or prosecution.” What Franks is referring to is Mueller’s relationship with former FBI director James Comey.
“Bob Mueller is in clear violation of federal code and must resign to maintain the integrity of the investigation into alleged Russian ties,” Franks states. “Those who worked under them have attested he and Jim Comey possess a close friendship, and they have delivered on-the-record- statements effusing praise of one another.”
Mueller-Comey Relationship Is Not the Problem
Well, last time we checked Franks it’s the Trump administration and his horde of cronies being investigated, not Comey. Also, where do you get off calling them by nicknames while throwing them under the bus? Fox ‘The Fake’ News reported that Mueller was a confidant to Comey when he talked former President George W. Bush out of renewing a controversial surveillance program and even offered to resign with him if need be.
“No one knows Mr. Mueller’s true intentions, but neither can anyone dispute that he now clearly appears to be a partisan arbiter of justice. Accordingly, the law is also explicitly clear: he must step down based on this conflict of interest.” Yeah, we do know his intentions. His intentions are to shut Trump down and get him impeached. You’re just scared he’s coming closer and closer to the truth and you probably have something to do with the Russians. Just shush and go back to doing whatever is you don’t do up there on Capitol Hill.
