Trump Seems To Literally Follow Fox Advice To Bomb Syria And Distract From Scandals

Fox & Friends suggested waging war on Syria would knock former FBI Director James Comey off the news, and it seems like President Donald Trump listened.

Comey and his new book dominated the headlines going into Friday morning and Trump lashed out on Twitter over it.

That same morning, Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt suggested that a military strike against Syria would be enough to force the media to shift their focus away from Comey.

Earhardt asked Fox contributor Geraldo Rivera:

“If the president, and France, and the UK decide to strike Syria, don’t you think that story would be a bigger story than Comey’s book that’s going to be released on Tuesday?”

Rivera responded that:

“I think that the United States, the United Kingdom, and France certainly have the military wherewithal. Indeed, the United States could do it on its own, strike Syria, strike Assad’s resources, military assets, in retaliation for the gas attack, the horrifying gas attack that the president was so righteously revolted by. I mean, we all were.”

Trump watches Fox & Friends every morning during his “executive time.” So, he ordered a missile strike on Syria on Friday evening and the media was forced to report on it instead of continuing to talk about Comey and his new book, which will be released next week.

Just like Fox & Friends suggested it would.

Regardless of whether or not the strike was justified, it certainly looks like Trump used this military action to distract from his scandals and that he is making decisions based on what Fox News tells him to do. This is not the kind of independently minded president America needs.

This is not the way our country should decide to go to war. The president has advisers for a reason, but he would rather take advice from a media outlet that shoves his propaganda down America’s throat.

Also, only Congress has the power to declare war, so Trump did exactly what he warned former President Obama to not do when he considered taking action against Syria.

Now we can only wait to see the consequences of these actions, and Trump better hope he didn’t just drag us into a potential World War III.
