Jersey Shore Cast Member Schools Trump on Climate Change

2017 will be remembered as the year where all of our realities were turned upside down, repeatedly, numerous times over. This is largely in thanks to Donald Trump, who took again took to Twitter on Thursday evening to grace the world with an ignorant thought.

In his tweet, Trump said it would be the “COLDEST” New Year’s Eve on record in the country’s East, and that perhaps we could use some global warming.

Well, climate change is more complicated than just rising temperatures. Scientists have long predicted extreme weather across the board as a result of climate change. Donald Trump, willfully ignorant on the issue, doesn’t get it. That’s why Vinny Guadagnino, former cast member of the hit reality show “Jersey Shore,” stepped in to clarify.

“I think climate change is more complex than global warming will make it hotter.”

What is reality, anyway?

Vinny is correct. It does have to do with disruptions of atmospheric conditions, ocean patterns, jet streams, and “shit like that.”

Democratic lawmakers also stepped in to burst Trump’s bubble. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) noted that the U.S. has a moral responsibility to address climate change, and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) called the tweet “embarrassing.”

Truly, the tweet was embarrassing. He doesn’t care. Fake news is great news! The more Trump twists reality, the more successful he feels.

Of course, Twitter lost it, because nobody expected to be living in a world where Jersey Shore cast members have to take to social media to school the president on climate science. Vinny wanted to know why Twitter users thought it was inappropriate that he would want to educate the president given his history in reality TV.

He makes a good point. “Why does having a summer shore house automatically make [you] stupid?” It doesn’t. Neither does partying with your friends on the weekend. And although Vinny will not win person of the year for his tweet, using his platform to stand up to a president with malicious intentions is a great example of civic engagement!

Way to go Vinny!
