Trump Lashes Out At NBC Over Corrected News Report

President Donald Trump is whining about an NBC News report that the network took responsibility for and thoroughly corrected upon learning a mistake was made. Meanwhile, Trump still lied to the American people for months about the Stormy Daniels hush money payment and hasn’t taken responsibility or apologized.

On Thursday, NBC published a bombshell story reporting that federal authorities wiretapped Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen’s phones in the weeks leading up to an FBI raid to execute a search warrant against his home and office last month.

NBC reportedly received this information from credible sources. In this case, however, NBC and their sources were wrong.

NBC actually acknowledged they were wrong as soon as they found out, unlike Trump, and issued a correction:

“CORRECTION: Earlier today, NBC News reported that there was a wiretap on the phones of Michael Cohen, President Trump’s longtime personal attorney, citing two separate sources with knowledge of the legal proceedings involving Cohen.

But three senior U.S. officials now dispute that, saying that the monitoring of Cohen’s phones was limited to a log of calls, known as a pen register, not a wiretap where investigators can actually listen to calls.

NBC News has changed the headline and revised parts of the original article.”

Issuing such a correction is standard and upholds journalistic integrity completely. But Trump just won’t let it go.

He took to Twitter to lash out at NBC:

Except that NBC’s sources are not “constantly wrong.” If that were the case, NBC would be issuing corrections all the time. It just happened that they were wrong this time. But Trump wants to use this one instance as proof that NBC is always wrong as a way to try and discredit the network’s reporting.

Let’s not forget that Trump lied over 2,000 times since taking office, including months of lying about the $130,000 hush money payment to Stormy Daniels. Trump has repeatedly denied knowledge of the payment.

But his new lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, openly admitted that Trump paid the money back to Cohen, which means Trump definitely knew about it.

NBC didn’t lie to the American people. They made an error. Errors happen. But at least they had the integrity to acknowledge it and correct it.
