Tweedledee and Tweedledum: Trump Swipes at Comey to Divert From Trump. Jr.

FBI Director James Comey and President Barack Obama

Following a New York Times report showing that on the campaign trail, Trump’s eldest son Donald Jr. met with a Russian lawyer who promised to give him damning information on Clinton; Trump took to Twitter to distract the public attention from the shocking revelations.

Trump’s Latest Tweetstorm

Trump tweeted a short video taken from FOX & Friends showing a former Washington Times journalist arguing that the media is unfairly attacking Trump for his use of Twitter. The journalist explained that the president is just exercising his free speech just like everybody else is. Trump himself said that the micro-blogging site enables him to avoid the dominant narratives in the U.S. press, which, he says, are unfair to him,

The tweet is followed by a couple more on the same topic. Another tweet includes a video from Fox News which shows that the memos former FBI Director James Comey leaked to the press contained top secret information.

“James Comey leaked CLASSIFIED INFORMATION to the media. That is so illegal,”

a second tweet reads.

Trump on His G-20 Performance

The next tweets are just a series of attempts to justify his less-than-presidential behavior at the G-20 gathering of global leaders in Germany over the weekend. During that meeting, he allowed his daughter Ivanka to take his place while world leaders were discussing issues regarding Africa.

Trump explained that he had to leave the room to meet with Japanese leaders, so, he asked his daughter to “hold seat.” The president described the move as “very standard.” He added that the German Chancellor agreed with him on this one. In a separate tweet, he noted that if Chelsea Clinton were asked to do the same thing for her mother Hillary Clinton, the “fake news” media would have promoted her for the presidency.

He also added this morning that he is working hard to get the Olympics to the U.S. and there are “big wins against ISIS.” Must be tweeting about a recent dream he had.
