Trump’s Ambassador to U.N. Nikki Haley took to Twitter Wednesday to complain that she had to stay away from home on the Fourth of July because of the North Korea crisis. Moments later, Twitter exploded.
Spending my 4th in meetings all day. #ThanksNorthKorea

On July Fourth, North Korea successfully tested an intercontinental ballistic missile (IBM) for the first time. The news was a cause for concern especially for the U.S. because an IBM can carry a nuclear warhead. The North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has threatened the U.S. multiple times with a nuclear strike.
Haley has a major role as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations to defuse the tensions in the Korean peninsula. However, for a moment, the ambassador forgot about her role and just whined over spending Independence Day at work.
Twitter’s reaction to her complaint was swift. One user noted that she should not “be bummed” for being called away on the Fourth of July, especially when her job implies protecting America of a potential “nuclear apocalypse” started by North Korea.
Another user reminded her that about 200,000 U.S. soldiers were serving overseas on Independence Day. Another Twitterer was amazed by the level of arrogance in Haley’s post. The user encouraged Haley just to step down if serving America was an inconvenience to her.
User Jeff Anderson voiced frustration that Haley was acting like she was the only person in the entire country that spends the holiday working. “ She’s out of touch just like the rest,” Jeff added.
Another user posted a quick reminder:
. Kudos. Spending a holiday working for American security is unprecedented. pic.twitter.com/QpqERnnd0i
